Find a flexibility partner

Flexibility Partners

Many actors from across the energy market - from consultants and energy suppliers through to aggregators and energy service providers - can help companies undertake a detailed analysis of how they can unlock flexibility and manage it daily.

There are two main types of actors that interface directly with Elia to valorise energy and flexibility

Balancing service providers (BSPs) use flexible assets to provide ancillary services (FCR, aFRR, and mFRR).

Balance responsible parties (BRPs) are responsible to maintain the balance between injections, offtakes, and commercial power trades (including through day-ahead and intraday markets) within their portfolio.

Both BSPs and BRPs are qualified providers approved by Elia to valorise energy and flexibility

However, they are also very diverse in the specific use cases they support. This ranges from traditional suppliers with large portfolios of physical consumers, to specialised traders without any physical delivery within their portfolio and large industrial companies that manage their balancing inhouse.

To facilitate and make this more digestible for new participants, other specialised companies who are not BSPs or BRPs themselves but work with these entities can make valuable partners to unlock your flexibility.

Note: CRM is a subsidy mechanism for which the applicant needs to submit an application and does not require the involvement of a qualified provider.
