Here you will find useful information about how the simulation is built and about the past and upcoming developments to Watts.Happening
Interpreting input questions and results
The simulator on Watts.Happening presents users with a comprehensive set of input questions about the assets their company owns and any possible flexibility constraints. Based on the answers to these questions, the simulator then provides users with an overview of the suitable flexibility products for their asset and the associated annual revenue projection.
To facilitate the process, many of the response boxes have been pre-filled with default values based on the most probable and frequently observed answers linked to the assets being considered.
GlossaryThe simulator generates two key outputs, as follows:
- An overview of the suitable flexibility products: it shows the flexibility products that the simulated asset is eligible for.
- A high-level annual market value projection with details depending on the specific product: an estimation of the potential value associated with this flexibility product.
Please note that the financial gains calculated by the simulator are estimations based on historical data and are not guarantees of any specific results. Moreover, the tool does not consider installation and servicing costs, or grid fees and potential opportunity costs caused by reduced operations.
Before actively using the asset in a flexible way, we strongly recommend that companies first conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses which are tailored to their specific circumstances.

Construction of the simulator’s model
User inputs serve as the foundation of the simulator’s underlying Python model. This model relies on real historical data. Below, you will find the assumptions and logic associated with each flexibility product that are used by the simulation model.
The simulator provides outputs for individual products only; it does not provide outputs for combinations of different flexibility products.
